Butterfly

Butterfly

Its a Monarch (Danaus plexippus).

The dried up flower (just below the butterfly) tells a different story.

UPDATE: Thanks to Ashwin, I stand corrected. It is not a Monarch but a Plain Tiger (Danaus chrysippus chrysippus).

Comments:
are you sure it is the Monarch? I doubt it, 'coz the wing marking don't match.

I believe it is one of the Tigers. The same Family: Nymphalidae, SubFamily: Danainae. I think it is Danaus chrysippus chrysippus (Plain Tiger).

Good close-up shot...
Hey...Have you thought of using Nikon 6t as the close-up lens...it really works wonders for macro stuff...real useful...and also get a Phayee adapter...these two things should be on your priority list :)
